Earlier this year, I wrote about the Asheville Prison Book Program. There’s also a sister program that’s deserving of attention and support. It’s called Tranzmission, and it’s essentially a pen pal program for people to write to LGBT prisoners. Here, group members talk about their program.

Hey Y'all-
This was actually a post we did for a friend's class project and was no way intended for the general public. However now that it's been put out, yes we really do need more folks to take pen pals. However what was left out was our whole first video, the one above being a second part. In the first unposted piece we do address queer Asheville. Also as a side note, not all of us in the video and in Tranzmission in general are white, assumptions are never a good idea. Thanks for watching.

wondering – i'm confused by your question, but i'll do my best to answer.
i'm not reposting blog posts. i'm posting videos that are posted on YouTube. regardless of that distinction – if someone posts a blog post, or a video on YouTube, it's posted for the entire world to see. so it's out there, part of the universe of information that anyone can consume.
so no – i don't ask their permission. i post it, link back, give credit, etc.
and in this case, i think it's a good cause, so i hope that by exposing them to a wider audience, it will help get word out about what they're doing and, by extension, perhaps raise more money or get more volunteers or whatever.
i'm not "outing" anyone. they posted a video to the biggest video sharing website on the globe, for anyone to see any time.
so… it seems like this group just used this as a way to advertise for itself as opposed to actually addressing the question of what is queer asheville, which pretty much everyone else on the queer asheville blog addressed…
very typical of the white activist "community" in this town and in the world in general.
hey ashevegas, i was just wondering if you asked these people for their permission to repost their blogposts, i just find it slightly concerning that you have chosen to rebroadcast such blogposts just because you are essentially outting these folks to the entire city of asheville as opposed to a small audience that looks at their blog..
