Press release:

Radio personalities John Boy and Billy of the John Boy & Billy Big Show will visit Asheville on Friday, September 24, for the “Big Show Bash,” a special Rock 104.9 listener and client appreciation party at The Venue on 21 North Market Street.

The John Boy and Billy Big Show began syndicating their morning show in 1993 and currently air on more than 100 radio stations across the country. Rock 104.9 (WQNS) was one of the show’s first affiliates, signing on in 1998.

Over the past three weeks, Rock 104.9 has been giving tickets away to listeners throughout the day. Winning tickets on-air is the only way listeners can be a part of this exclusive event . According to Rock 104.9 program director, Rick Rice, “We would love to have every fan of the show be able to attend the party, but I’m not sure there’s a room in town big enough to hold all of them.”

Still ratings leaders, The John Boy and Billy Big Show has also received numerous awards, including:

2004 – Classic Rock Air Personality/Show of the year, Radio & Records Magazine.

2003 – Selected for “Radio Day” live broadcast from the White House Lawn.

1999 – City of Asheville – Parade in Honor of John Boy and Billy with Key to the City presented by Mayor Leni Sitnick.

1997-98 – North Carolina “Radio Program of the Year.”

WQNS, Rock 104.9, is Asheville’s only classic rock station and home to both NASCAR and The Tar Heel Sports Network. For more information on the upcoming John Boy and Billy “Big Show Bash” or to find out how to attend, please contact program director Rick Rice at 828-257-2700.
