From the Bikram Yoga Asheville Blog, on how exercising the body can affect the mind:
I sat. I listened to my own breath. I asked myself if what I was thinking was actually the truth and I soon realized how ridiculous I was being and that I didn’t want to sit still any longer. Then, I just let it go. Shortly after that, I went to yoga class and I really let it go. Any frustration or confusion that I felt rolled right off of me like beads of sweat in the hot room. After class, I felt like a new person. In fact, I couldn’t even remember what it was that I was so upset about earlier. In the past (pre-yoga) I might have sulked and pouted for at least another 2-3 days with out realizing that I didn’t have to.
This is just one example but this sort of thing is happening more and more throughout my days. I am more aware of my mental patterns and noticing that I can intentionally choose to think, act, and be different. I can change.
