Asheville Citizen-Times reporter Dale Neal will launch the sale of his first novel, Cow Across America, with an Oct. 17 reading at Malaprop’s. Dale, a former colleague of mine, has been pursuing his fiction writing for years and the publication of his first novel is a great achievement. Writing is a grind, and Dale has persevered. Congratulations, Dale!
Go to the reading, buy the book and support a fine writer.

Title of Event: Dale Neal
Dale Neal will read from and sign his book, Cow Across America . This novel, which won the 2009 Novello Literary Award, tells the story of Dwight Martin’s relationship with the suspiciously tall tales spun by his grandfather and the life-changing events that later reveal the power (and veracity) of those stories. Neal weaves a raucous tale that vividly portrays America’s 1960’s and 1970’s pop culture while exploring the powerful links that stories can forge between generations. Dale Neal is a graduate of Warren Wilson College’s MFA program and is the science and technology writer for the Asheville Citizen-Times.
