Asheville restaurant update

The new Decades restaurant and bar has opened up in the former Whiskey Tavern space. The place has received a slight makeover (they took out several of the flat screen teevees and added a little stage for live music) and looks to be quite nice. The menu is your basic American cuisine. The owner is Bill Devlin, who used to have the old Decades bar in the former Best Western hotel on Woodfin Street (now a Four Seasons something-or-other).

Also saw an ad in the newspaper advertising what appears to be a new restaurant in the former Trevi Pasta Seafood & Pizza space in Biltmore Village. Rita’s Mexican Cantina has moved in. Back in August of 2006, you’ll recall that a Trevi restaurant employee was found to have hepatitis A, and hundreds of people who ate at the restaurant were advised by the county health department to get shots. That bad press essentially shut the formerly popular restaurant down, according to its owner. Hep. A is a liver infection.

According to its owner. According to the employees at the time, it was already done.
