Asheville rap crew Secret Agent 23 Skidoo: ‘I got more rhymes than Doctor Seuss’

Share

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo is a killer Asheville hip-hop act that features Joe Sullivan and his daughter, with some other friends who come along for the kid-friendly rap. Secret Agent’s flow is remindful of a young Fresh Prince, and his message echoes that of the old school MCs who always rocked it on he positive tip.

Here’s more, from the band:

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo had spent over a decade touring nationally in a live hip hop band, and half that time as a Dad, when he realized a need for hip hop both kids and parents could relate to. After traveling the wide world learning life lessons and having a mindbogglingly good time, he was full to the brim with stories and music. With a home base in Asheville, NC, the Southeast’s worst kept secret, he enlisted the help of the local music scene’s top players. Together, they went to town on 13 tracks of ground breaking goodness.

Since its release, ‘Easy’ has rocked crowds both at live shows and on the radio waves, with the song “Luck” rocketing to #1 on XMKids. 23 Skidoo shows no signs of slowing down. Spending his time on stage and back in the studio, spreading the music like pollen, and making sure his daughter Saki has a great childhood, which is the whole point anyhow.

Your next chance to see this act in Asheville is at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Grey Eagle. The show is a fund-raiser for the Asheville Music Hall of Fame.

Cool. I’ve seen them somewhere, on youtube, I think…I didn’t know they were based in Ashvegas.

I saw a video clip of 23 and Saki doing "Family Tree" on youtube. Great stuff. I can’t find that particular clip anymore, but you can find something by 23 on that site.

23 Skiddoo is awesome. My husband is an elementary school teacher, and his kids love hip-hop. He was so glad to find kid-friendly stuff that he can play at school.

If you get a chance to check out 23 Skidoo’s songs "Dreams" (or "Saki’s Dream?) & "I gotta be me!", you’ll be entertained and your kids will too. Great lyrics/message/vibe throughout the CD.
