Press release:

Asheville Puppetry Alliance (APA) celebrates its first ten years of service to Western North Carolina on Saturday, May 9th.  The day-long celebration begins with A VERY PUPPET BIRTHDAY from 10 am to 4:00 pm for children, families, and the young at heart of all ages. Activities will include puppet performances, a tour of the set of Uncle Rhubarb (a new TV series featuring Harry Anderson and his puppet friends), puppet-themed games, puppet making, and a Muppet Sing-A-Long led by Heather Henson (daughter of Jim Henson).

APA will also host an adult evening GALA that will feature a series of selected short films produced by Ms. Henson’s IBEX company entitled Handmade Puppet Dreams. Heather will introduce the films and be available to chat with guests afterward. The evening will feature local gourmet delights, a lively not-so-silent auction, a tour of the motion picture studios and state-of-the-art screening room, and an all-around unique, historic, fun filled evening with like-minded guests who are patrons of the arts in our community.

The location for the celebration is Blue Ridge Motion Pictures on Old Charlotte Way off of Highway 74A in East Asheville.  Information for the day long program is available on the APA website.
