Might be a good meeting to attend, in light of all that’s gone on this year with the Asheville Police Department. Need a refresher of police department scandals? Click here and here for starters. Press release:

As part of a strategic planning process that will outline primary goals and objectives for the next three years, the Asheville Police Department is inviting the community to an input session to be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Center located at 285 Livingston Street.

To guide the process, the department has enlisted the consulting services of retired Wilson NC Police Chief Willie Williams and retired Raleigh NC Police Chief Harry Dolan. Input from sworn and non-sworn staff, other city colleagues, partner agencies and the general public will be gathered and integrated into the new strategic plan.

“I truly hope the community will take this opportunity to contribute to the road map that will guide the future of the Asheville Police Department,” said APD Police Chief William Anderson. “The consultants are going to have the opportunity to hear from every member of the department and we hope to have good community participation too.”

Perhaps one plan to start with would be to replace the Chief…
