Robert Lathan, editor of The Asheville Citizen, died at his home in Albermarle Park here tonight after a brief illness. His age was 56. Mr. Lathan, who had served as editor of The Citizen since 1927, won the Pulitzer Prize for the best editorial in the United States in 1924.
