Good reminder here to lock your stuff up when you go to the gym. Press release here from the Asheville Police Department:
ASHEVILLE – Detectives have charged two men with stealing credit and debit cards from lockers at local gyms.
Dominique Jawann Eddings, birth date 3/12/1989, of Asheville, and Billy Lizene Alexander III, birth date 7/25/1988, also of Asheville, have taken items from lockers in the West Asheville Rush Fitness Center and the downtown YMCA.
In most cases, the lockers targeted by Eddings and Alexander were unsecured.
Police have charged both men multiple times over the years for financial card theft and fraud.
Mr. Eddings was charged in February with 2 counts of Felony Financial Card Theft and 2 counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods.
He is suspected in thefts from area gyms dating back at least two years. He was given unsecured bonds for his recent charges and was released from the Buncombe County Detention Center.
Mr. Alexander is currently in the Detention Center on 1 count of Felony Financial Card Theft. He is under a $2,000 secured bond. He was also charged in February with 1 Felony Probation Violation, 1 count of Felony Financial Card Theft and 1 count of Misdemeanor Financial Card Fraud.
Mr. Alexander is also suspected in multiple larcenies from area gyms, as well as several armed robberies that occurred downtown and in West Asheville dating back to at least 2008.
Asheville police strongly advise area gym members to always secure their lockers, and to take only what you will absolutely need at the gym and leave the rest at home.

Jeff and Sean, thanks for your comments.
Ash,
I want to say "thanks" for putting this out there. I think that sometimes folks in Asheville get a little too into the "funky utopia" ideal of this town and forget that there are people that prey on those who live in that kind of mentality. These two idiots aren’t the first to victimize people at area gyms, and they won’t be the last.
Wow, those sound like some genuine jerks.
