Some of what’s going ’round onthe Asheville restaurant scene:
–Simma Down and out? From a loyal Ashvegas reader, regarding Simma Down restaurant on Eagle Street:
Went to have lunch at Simma Down the other day and it looks closed. Google turned up a FaceBook post that said closed until further notice. Any news on their status? I guess I should have used my Groupon sooner – maybe they should put expiration dates for the restaurant in addition to the one for the Groupon. We will miss this place if it has gone out – the food was really good.
-Copper River Grill comes to town: The Copper River Grill resturant plans to be officially open to the public on Thursday. There was a friends-and-family event there over the weekend that went off well, I hear. Steak, seafood and such.
-Asiana upgrade: The Asiana Grand Buffet restaurant on Smoky Park Highway is shut down and getting a major overhaul. Twitter friends say the restaurant is essentially being gutted and will be renamed when it re-opens. More to come.
-Onyx Orchard Cheese opens: The Onyx Orchard Cheese Shop on Patton Avenue, across the street from the Thirsty Monk, is holding its official grand opening today.

If I'm not mistaken, Onyx Orchard had already been open and operating for at least four or five months as of last Monday . . . how long are you allowed to delay your "official" grand opening, anyway? And why would you, as a retail establishment?
The Lonestar in Arden has been temporarily closed for what seems like a month now, we assume it's a mold issue recalling the flooding issues they had before they opened. I really liked their Wedge salad and, well.. their Wedge salad was good.
Heard anything?
