Please meet Heather, of Misty Ridge Designs, who is today’s Asheville etsy seller of the day:
A: Please summarize what you make and sell on Etsy.
Q: I make handcrafted jewelry. I work primarily in sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones. However, I also like the look of copper, leather, and some glass beads. Currently the majority of my work is in wire and chain, but I am slowing increasing my line to incorporate more sheet metal techniques.
What item makes you sad to let go? In other words, what do you have a special connection to?
I think I form a special connection to most of my pieces. Almost all of them have a particular meaning to me so I guess I would probably answer whichever piece I am currently working on.
Q: What are you inspired by, whether it be something in nature or a musician, artist or other creative wellspring?
A: I am often inspired by all of the above. I find that I get sparks of inspiration from books that I am reading or have read, songs that I hear, and a lot of times from my friends and family and certain things that are going on in my life at the moment.
Q: With the economy the way it is and the holiday shopping season coming up, what’s your perfect stocking stuffer or small gift?
A: Shoppers will find that I have a wide range of price points in my shop with a number of great items priced less than $20. I think I have a great ring assortment that is priced very reasonably that would make great stocking stuffers, especially for the Twilight fans out there.
Q: What else would you like people to know about you?
A: I am a native of Western North Carolina and I think that these mountains are the best place in the world to live. I really love the Asheville area and community. There are so many artists in our area that are really great and talented people. I love what I do and I hope that it shows in my craftsmanship. I enjoy supporting our local crafts people and hope that through your generous agreement to bring local ETSY artist to light on your blog, that others will see the value of handmade and will also become supporters. Thank you very much for this opportunity to get the ETSY venue out there to the public.
