Triangle BizJournals story here:
Mainline Contracting, No. 2 on Triangle Business Journal’s 2008 ranking of the area’s fastest-growing, privately held companies, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The Durham company, which a year ago reported more than $80 million in revenue and as many as 375 employees, claims assets and debts of between $10 million and $50 million in the filing, made Tuesday in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
The filing does not say what drove Mainline into Chapter 11, and the company’s CEO, Randy Garrett, did not return a phone call seeking comment.

The biggest claim comes from the Thompson Arthur Division of Asheville-based Apac-Atlantic, which says it is owed $1.8 million for subcontracting work.
