Another high-profile Citizen-Times employee leaves

Fresh off the mid-May news that Citizen-Times editor Susan Ihne had parted ways with the Asheville Citizen-Times comes the news that marketing manager Luann Labedz is also leaving.

Editor and Publisher has the story:

CHICAGO – Creative Loafing has tapped Gannett Co. Inc. veteran Luann Labedz as the new publisher of its Atlanta alternative paper.

Labedz replaces David Schmall, who had been publisher since 2006. On the paper’s Fresh Loaf blog, Thomas Wheatley wrote that CFO Kirk MacDonald told the Atlanta staff that the company and Schmall “have parted ways.”

Labedz joins Creative Loafing Atlanta from Gannett, where since 2001 she had been director of market development for The Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times. She began her 18-year career at Gannett at The Coloradoan in Fort Collins.

Labedz takes her new position June.

I always enjoyed working with Luann. She had a tough job – market the newspaper with little or no money. I hope she has fun going to the alt weekly side.

OMG! I love Luann! Can’t believe she’s leaving. She was awesome. And always wore fancy pantsuits 🙂
