Press release here:
Veteran walkers and runners prepare for the 10th annual Conquer A Cove race while newcomers look forward with anticipation to this 5K event. On Sunday, April 18 supporters of the walk and run will venture out to Mount Pisgah Academy on Holcombe Cove Road in Candler to walk or run, to man an activity booth, to cheer on the participants, and to have a fun time with family and friends.
Serious runners will dash from the start line intent on beating last year’s recorded minutes. Their goal is to beat past winners’ minutes or to beat their personal best. Walkers are just as intent on finishing the course, just at a different pace. Their objective is to persevere to the end. Kids aim to have a fun time though many show a competitive spirit during their quarter mile run.
Whatever the area of participation, all associates expect an enjoyable time. A feel-good attitude stems from the purpose of Conquer A Cove. Family members walk or run in honor of, or in memory of, someone they love. Cancer survivors participate to set an “I can do this” example, to demonstration support for others, and to exercise for better health.
Conquer A Cove raises money for the Hope Chest for Women whose programs offer some financial assistance to WNC women diagnosed with a female cancer and is having economic challenges due to treatment cost.
Sponsorships and registration fees go toward an event goal to net $10,000.00. Table setup is free, but a $10.00 donation is appreciated as well as $10.00 donations from the public.
For sponsorship, health fair, and donation information, call (828) 418-1344 or email khaney@hopewcc.com.

Additional information:
The Conquer A Cove course presents challenging rises and gentle downhill slopes, reminders that life has a similar course and we are running to find a cure for cancer. As our objective is pursued, we will cheer-walk-run-race for those in need of our support. At the finish line, cheer all runners and walkers and don’t be surprised to discover that all participants are first place winners!
