All hail the return of Gannett Blog

It appears that Jim Hopkins may be returning to the blogosphere. Hopkins is the man behind Gannett Blog, a web site that extensively covered all things Gannett and Gannett newspapers for a couple of years.Hopkins drove the Gannett suits insane with his spot-on reporting of questionable corporate conduct, impending lay-offs and the newspaper industry’s general upheaval.

Hopkins walked away from it all five months ago. Now it appears that he may be back. From a Dec. 6 posting:

Gannett Blog continues to get thousands of monthly hits, even though I shut it down five months ago. Some questions for you, which I hope you’ll answer in the comments section, below:

  • What brought you to this site today?
  • Are you a first-time visitor?
  • Are you a former reader?
  • How did you learn about Gannett Blog?

I pose these questions as I experiment with a possible relaunch of Gannett Blog, in conjunction with two, new related media blogs that I might start publishing after the New Year.

Jim, I hope you do come back. Your reporting on how the nation’s largest newspaper company was handling massive changes was spot on, and offered excellent context and depth. We’ve missed you!

the 4th of Dec was Lisa’s last day. who knows what really prompted her departure but what was told to some was that she was going to run her mother’s real estate office in Charlotte. like i said, who knows.

Gannett Blog Rules!!!! If you don’t like it, put your blinders back on.

Gannett is still not innovating fast enough to save it’s smaller papers like the one in Asheville.

I miss reading the blog. On another note, what happened to Lisa Fields job at the CTimes? Her job is posted on Career Builder.
