So many people ask me where to study herbal medicine and where to take classes on other natural therapies. There are sporadic classes in the Georgia area that I will highlight later, but the one I recommend the most is only a three-hour drive from Atlanta in the great Smoky Mountain city of Asheville.The Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism (ASHH) is located in West Asheville and offers courses of study that last for many weeks to a very affordable class that lasts ½ day. They are the southeast’s oldest herbal studies school. The ASHH focus is on preventative medicine and sustainable lifestyles – a popular topic growing more important as we all go “green”.
ASHH has a wellness center that hosts lectures by featured herbalists and workshops that allow for hands-on work with herbal and other natural therapies. There is also an apothecary on site! Not only that, there are regular practitioners available on a regular basis who offer herbal consultation, massage, movement,reflexology, Thai stretch, Swedish massage, reiki, alchemy and spagyrics.
