Underground Ashvegas is always a bubbling cauldron of creativity. Here’s a sample:
Pirate Radio
As other local bloggers have noted, Free Radio Asheville freestylists of the airwaves continue to defy the federal government and rock onward. Listen to them here.
Despite a couple of high-profile run-ins with the Federal Communications Commission, the crew has been able to remain distinctly low-profile, flying under the radar by moving their illegal (by the federal government’s terms) broadcasting operation around Ashvegas about every two weeks.
The DJs operate under pseudonyms such as Not Quite Lucy, Furious George and Koolwip. The Asheville Global Report appears to have good communications with the notoriously secretive bunch. You can listen to them on the Internet at the above address, or if you’re in Ashvegas, tune to 107.5 FM.
Freecycling
Asheville Freecycle follows other “freecycle” groups which invite people to put up their junk for other people to take. It’s free stuff. Check it out.
