A new way to experience an Asheville City Council meeting

Share

Asheville residents will have a new way to keep track of Asheville City Council meetings starting tonight (Tuesday). Along with watching the meetings live, and as a re-run, on Charter cable channel 10, the meetings will be streamed live and replayed at www.AshevilleNC.gov/gtv. You can read more about the city’s government access channel here.

I, for one, like to watch the meetings on television, and I like the option of watching online. I’m not sure how many other nerds will be stoked by this announcement, but it’s good news. Now if we could just get ’em to post a live Twitter feed of people talking about council issues as the meeting’s happening…

There’s also this:

Starting Tuesday, the City of Asheville will also offer improved wireless internet access for guests in City Council chambers. The service features improved coverage as well as support for more devices.

More good news. It really is a brave new world out there, isn’t it?

All this by way of Asheville City Councilman Gordon Smith and scrutinyhooligans.us.
