A little Friday news

John Le had a story about a former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle being the grand marshal for a WNC Toys for Tots toy run today in Lake Lure. Le went around asking if Pyle was going to show up after being arrested for not registering as a sex offender in Florida earlier in the week. Nobody knew.

In other news, there was a house fire somewhere and nobody was injured. There was a fur protest in downtown Ashvegas, and we’ll bring you photos later. People went shopping. Monday is “CyberMonday,” when people supposedly do all their shopping online. State troopers are giving out speeding tickets.

And a local charity collected money and toys in return for the chance to win two tickets to see the hottest show anywhere around here – Hannah Montana in Knoxville. WLOSers didn’t show the winners, but they did talk to pre-teen girls who were all excited about the chance to win.

Artiums is our neighbor. He pled guilty 17 years ago when his ex-wife, who he was divorcing at the time, accused him of sex offense with his kids. He had no money for attorneys, He told us he was innocent, and his daughter to this day said nothing happened. We believe him. The ex-wife kicked that daughter out of the house when she was 11. They told him possibility of life in prison, or plead guilty and get probation and the girls didn’t have to testify. HE didn’t know that he would be on a ‘list’ for the rest of his life. He is a great guy and we trust him totally with our kid. His wife is devastated by this. They are a wonderful family and deserve everyone’s support. Things are not always as they seem!!!

There was no follow-up on the Artemis Pyle story on Sunday. Word is John Le was getting death threats.
