Here’s a quick look at the award winners at Wednesday night’s 11th annual Music Video Asheville event. A group of 27 music videos made by local musicians and filmmakers competed for prizes. That group was narrowed down from 86 submissions by a panel of 13 music industry professionals.
This year’s event, held at Diana Wortham Theatre was organized once again by Kelly Denson. It was a sold-out event, which was sponsored by Prestige Subaru.
The winners:
-Founder’s Achievement Award: to Josh Blake of IamAVL, a business that provides live video-streaming and in-studio recording sessions for emerging artists. It’s based at Echo Mountain Recording Studios.
-Best Editing: Secret Agent 23 Skidoo for his video Mozartistic, a song recorded with the Asheville Symphony.
-Best Cinematography: Don Clayton Songs for Pray Me Over and Digital Media Foundry, Dan Judson.
-Best Visual Design: Ian Ridenhour for You Help Me Fall Asleep and All Around Artsy/Kira Bursky.
-Best Soundtrack: Carly Taich for Give Me Likeness and Nathan Rivers Chesky.
-Judge’s Choice Award: Midnight Snack for Magic. The band wins a full day of studio time provided by Echo Mountain Recording Studios.
-People’s Choice Award: TEYG for My Life and Andrew Anderson Films. The award comes with a $500 cash prize provided by Charlotte Street Computers.
