This looks like a fun event. Press release here:

Aloft Asheville Downtown will host its first “Meet the Artist” event on Tuesday, March 8 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in its W XYZ® bar. The event will feature local artist Angela Alexander, whose work is currently on display and available for purchase at the hotel, and fifteen percent of her sales will benefit the Asheville Humane Society. Alexander is the first artist to be featured through Aloft’s new “Meet the Artist” series, which will showcase one local artist per quarter to benefit a local charity organization.

The event is free and open to the public. Fifteen percent of all W XYZ® food and beverage sales that evening will be donated to the Asheville Humane Society as part of the 13th Annual Dine to be Kind fundraiser also taking place that evening. During the event, Alexander will raffle one of her pieces, which will be valued at $125.00. Raffle tickets will be $5.00 each, and ticket sales will also benefit the Asheville Humane Society.

“We are excited to invite the Asheville community to our hotel for our very first ‘Meet the Artist’ event,” said Aloft Asheville Downtown General Manager David McCartney. “This is a perfect opportunity for art enthusiasts and dog lovers to come together to help a very worthy community cause. We look forward to hosting these events throughout the year to benefit local charity organizations, while helping support the art community in Asheville.”

Alexander specializes in acrylic painting and abstract art, with animals serving as the subject of her artwork. She began painting in 2004 after the vitality of the artistic community in Asheville sparked her childhood dream of becoming an artist. Alexander’s work is now nationally and internationally collected and was awarded the prestigious honor of being exhibited at the AKC Museum of the Dog in St. Louis. She actively works with local animal rescue groups and donates her art to raise awareness and provide financial support for organizations that strive to give all animals a loving home. Alexander’s artwork will be on display and available for purchase at Aloft through June, with fifteen percent of sales continuing to benefit the Asheville Humane Society.

The “Meet the Artist” series is planned with the help of local art consultant, Liz Barr, who assists Aloft’s management company, McKibbon Hotel Management, in selecting local artists to feature in its hotels. Aloft’s next “Meet the Artist” event will take place this summer.

The Asheville Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the compassionate treatment of animals through education, sheltering and adoption. The organization also provides resources for pets and their owners across Buncombe County, from lost and found to low-cost clinic services. Representatives from the Asheville Humane Society will be onsite at the event to tell guests more about their mission and collect donations.
