According to Asheville Scene, the new culinary and cultural weekly insert from the Asheville Citizen-Times, the good ol’ Admiral is now open Sundays, too:

Have a hard time getting a table at The Admiral? Now there’s one full extra day to try and score reservations. The West Asheville favorite, recently featured in Garden & Gun and Travel and Leisure, opens on Sundays, beginning this weekend. That means the restaurant now serves dinner seven days a week, 5-11 p.m.

Reservations can be made at www.theadmiralnc, or by calling 252-2541 before 5 p.m.

Hot tip: Call at least two weeks in advance.

The Admiral (despite the cutesey burned-out Budweiser sign on the wall that spells out ‘dive’) has never been a dive bar. To call it one is both disingenious and an insult to real dive bars, where you don’t have to pay cover or wait in line to enter. I hate The Admiral.

Obviously a lot of people don’t hate it or the line to get in wouldn’t exist. It is very cool to hate popular spots, though.
