The Asheville Grown Business Alliance’s Go Local card is a hit. It’s raised over $10,000 for area schools and nonprofits.

The Go Local card is an Asheville-based loyalty card that saves you money at local businesses like The Hop, the Big Crafty, Orbit DVD, Asheville Pizza, The Junction, Mayfel’s, Zambra, Dancing Bear, the YWCA, Patton Ave. Pet Co and many, many more.

It drives dollars to local indie businesses, while also funding six local middle and elementary schools (Vance Elementary, Claxton Elementary, Hall Fletcher, Jones Elementary, Isaac Dickson and Asheville Middle), as well as hard-working nonprofts including Our Voice, NC Stage and LEAF in Schools and Streets.

There is nothing not to like about the Go Local Card.

And you can win two of them now.

The value of two 2012 cards is $20 (price change from previously, as cards started out at $15), and here’s a list of where you can save money while exclusively supporting local, independent Asheville businesses.

If you own a local, indie business, you can also apply to be a discounted business with the 2013 Asheville Grown Business Alliance Go Local card here. Businesses set the terms of their own discounts, and there are no fees.

New businesses can sign up to be part of the 2013 Go Local card through October 19, 2012.

This year, in collaboration with Mountain Xpress, the Asheville Grown Business Alliance will publish a Love Asheville, Go Local directory, listing all participating local businesses.

Cards are available for purchase at Hip ReplacementsMalaprop’s Bookstore and Nourish & Flourish. The cost is $10 per card, and if you love local, it pays for itself quick.

Just be the fifth individual commenter to tell us the name of your favorite local, independently owned Asheville business, and we’ll hold two cards just for you. Pickup is at Hip Replacements.

Go local.

I think I’m going to have to second the vote for Malaprop’s, because it has food, coffee, books, music AND events.
