… Here’s a roundup of a few tidbits I’ve collected while surfing:

Police and porn
The State Bureau of Investigation is checking out Mitchell County’s web site after someone found porn links on it. Sounds like interesting news, but the Mitchell County newspaper kissed it off as one paragraph at the end of a recent story.

Here’s a piece: (County commissioner) “Saylor said he was checking the site last Tuesday when he discovered links to Playboy, Hustler, and a list of explicit sex sites. Saylor said he showed the links to acting county manager Phil Castro, county attorney Lloyd Hise, and Sheriff Ken Fox – and then contacted the SBI.

That’s right – you gotta check those sites out first before telling anybody. Who knows what you’re missing?

Doggie don’t
Headline: Police dog up for evaluation after biting sheriff recently

It doesn’t look good for Sam, the 23-month-old Belgian Malinois that bit the Polk County sheriff recently. Sheriff David Satterfield had to have stitches on his upper lip and eye after the incident.

Part of the story: Experts “will determine whether Sam is fit to continue serving the sheriff’s office or whether she should be retired as a result of the recent incident. The evaluation will be completed in a couple of weeks.”

Is the phrase “retired” police speak for drawn and quartered? Doesn’t sound good. Here’s the Tryon Daily Bulletin story.

Oh, the humanity

This headline from the Cherokee Scout just made us cringe:
Septic backlog a ‘crisis’

Yikes!!!
