Thursday, 4/13

Stupid F*cking Bird @ Magnetic 375

Opens Thursday (through Saturday) at 7:30

The award-winning retelling of Anton Chekov’s The Seagull, penned by Aaron Posner, comes to Magnetic. The show is “furiously paced, often hilarious, irreverent, but moving, and song-filled.” Sign us up.

An Evening with Shane Parish and Tatsuya Nakatani and Shane Parish Duo @ Static Age Records

8-11 pm

Two sets from two of Asheville’s most talented musicians in the Static Age listening room before they embark on recording their sophomore album together. Carmelo Pampillonio opens.

Friday, 4/14

HEX 1. @ The Mothlight

9 pm

This dance party and night of witchy wonder is also a benefit for OUR Voice, which provides rape crisis services and sexual assault prevention education. $5, larger donations welcome. DJs Lil Meow Meow, Malinalli, and Abu Disarray will keep the dance floor bumping.

Noname @ the Orange Peel

9 pm

Poetry, spoken word, and hip hop from Chicago-born Rising Star Noname, who recently opened for Ms. Lauryn Hill on her tour.

Saturday, April 15

FBO at Hominy Creek Grand Opening @ 230 Hominy Creek Rd

11 am-11 pm

French Broad Outfitters welcome you to their new summertime outdoor space at the Hominy Creek put-in/take-out spot. Sip some beer, re-up your floating stash, rent boats, and inflate your tubes for free. Live music from Scooter Hayward and the Repeat Offenders from 5-7. Food from Deli Llammma food truck. Float season begins now.

Spring Arts Festival @ Salvage Station

1-5 pm

Local and handmade arts and crafts, plus all kinds of other goodies + activities (including vintage treasures and face painting), for your perusing and purchasing pleasure.

BEAT LIFE Daytime Showcase @ the RAD Skatepark [FEATURED WEEKEND UPDATE EVENT]

2-8 pm

Eight local producers and DJs come together to play a free, all-ages show at the RAD Skatepark (37 Foundy St behind the new Wedge/12 Bones). Come for the skating, the music, or both, and bring the kids. The lineup includes Koresma, DJ Kutzu, Vietnam Jerry, mor∆sso, EmE, and more. BBQ and beer available are just a short walk away, and be sure to check out the brilliant street art in the area while you’re there.

Sunday, April 16 

Saluds and Salutations @ Burial Beer

11 am

Take a yoga class from local instructor Tucker Waldron, and then sip on a delicious beer while you enjoy brunch from Salt & Smoke’s kitchen. Saluds and Salutations happens at five local breweries, one on every Sunday in April.

Pabst Sabbath @ Lazy Diamond

10 pm-2 am

Lazy Diamond never fails to provide alternative holiday entertainment, and this Easter Sunday is no different. Enjoy music from the Krektones, Senator Artie Mondello, and DJ ChubberbirdPabst cans cost a buck. We’re not sure how the movie Spider Baby is involved, but just using the image on the event page warrants extra points.
