Here’s a look at a few of the fun things to do around Asheville this weekend, including the Asheville Running Experience and HempX Asheville.

Thursday

-Go vote! Early voting in this year’s Asheville City Council elections starts today.

Belle Game and Broken Social Scene at the Orange Peel starts at 9 p.m. (doors at 8). Lush dreampop to carry you through the tail end of your week. Preview post here on Asheville Grit.

Friday through the weekend

-The Asheville Running Experience features five events in three days around downtown Asheville, including the Super Hero 5k and the ARX Half-Marathon. If you love anything to do with running, you’ll love this event.

HempX Asheville brings together farmers, artists and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities around industrial hemp. This year, the event will be held at Franny’s Farm in Leicester, which was home to a test plot of industrial hemp. The schedule includes vendors, workshops, demonstrations and a Saturday night concert featuring Asheville singer-songwriter Jane Kramer with Free Planet Radio and Billy Cardine.

Friday and Saturday

The Drive-By Truckers will play two nights at the Orange Peel Friday and Saturday, with Lydia Loveless opening.

Asheville Ballet presents Fall Into Dance at Pack Square Park, a free outdoor concert and performance that begins at 7:30 p.m. Bring a chair and a blanket (or a buddy) to snuggle.

Friday

Artifact and Apparatus Sale at Parker J Pfister Studio begins at 9 a.m. Cameras, lights, furniture, props, clothing and more will be up for sale by this amazing photographer.

Saturday

-The Wedge Neighborhood Pig Pick’n goes from 5-9 p.m. at Wedge Brewing’s location at Foundation. The brewery is teaming up with 12 Bones to serve up barbecue, Wedge brew and some live music with members of Empire Strikes Brass. A portion of proceeds from the party will benefit the Foundation Skate Park.

Raise Your Hand Auction and Gala, the big annual fundraising event for the WNC AIDS Project, 6 p.m. at Asheville Event Centre.

Eliada Signature Event, the big annual fundraising event for Eliada Home, 6 p.m. at Omni Grove Park Inn.

5th Annual Root Ball, the big annual benefit for Asheville GreenWorks, 6:30 p.m. at the new visitors center at 14 Riverside Dr.

Trevor Noah at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium brings the signature humor of the Daily Show host and famous comedian to Asheville.

Sunday

Art House Theater Day at Grail Moviehouse means you get to see 5 movies, all in one day. Art House Theater Day celebrates the legacy of independent theaters as advocates for cinema arts. Screenings include Monty Python and the Holy GrailThe Texas Chainsaw MassacreRevolting RhymesLucky, and Martha & Niki. Each movie is $5, or get ’em all for $25.Friday through the weekend
