Ingles Markets stock dropped nearly 16 percent on Wednesday, the second biggest decline on the Nasdaq market on the day. The stock was up on Thursday.
Robert Ingle opened his first grocery store in Asheville in 1963. Today, the Black Mountain-based company operates about 200 stores in six Southeastern states.
The rumor was that Ingles won’t be offering sponsorship of downtown Asheville’s Fourth of July festivities this year.
