Stu Helm’s Asheville Food Fan Checklist! What’s Your “AVL Food Fan” Score?

Share

HAPPY NEW YEAR, ASHEVILLE!

Yes, I’m sill working on part two of the Stoobie Awards (you can read part one HERE if you haven’t already) but  in the meantime, I thought I’d share a list that I recently made for Facebook. I call it my “Asheville Food Fan (partial) Checklist.” I jammed the word “partial” in there because, yeah, there are 32 boxes to tick off on this list, but I could have kept going and going and going. The list of great places and things to eat in this town is endless, but the checklist below is a pretty basic start to being a TRUE AVL Food Fan!

SCORING:

  • 1 – 10:  NOVICE – Awww, so cute! Keep eating, Precious, maybe you’ll get there one day.
  • 11 – 21: EATER – We all eat, but not all of us are “Eaters.” A true Eater is more daring than a novice, but perhaps not as bold, or experienced, as the Foodies among us.
  • 22 – 31: FOODIE – I hate this expression, but it has stuck, and it’s apt when describing me, you, and any person who really appreciates fine food, and frequently seeks out new and exciting culinary experiences. You’re doing great, and you’re really close to gold: Being a Food Fan.
  • Perfect 32: FOOD FAN – Congrats! You are a hardcore fan of food. If it’s edible , you’re eating it. Amazing people like you keep the chefs on their toes and make the food scene more interesting for everyone! Thank you for your service. Also: You ate a testicle.

I scored a perfect 32, thank you, but… I did write the list, so DUH! Am I gonna make a checklist that I can’t check off every box on? No, I’m not. How many boxes can you check off?

Here’s your Checklist! What’s your score?

The Asheville Food Fan (Partial) Checklist first appeared on my Facebook Page as a graphic only.
A text version appears here below the graphic.

There ya go! How’d you do? Anything you think I should definitely have included on this list? I could expand it to 50 things easily. Maybe I’ll do that some day! In the meantime, enjoy the amazing food here in Asheville, whether you’re a Novice, an Eater, a Foodie, or a hard core Food Fan like me, there’s a wonderful world of culinary adventure waiting for you out there! And again, Happy New Year! 2018 is gonna be… pretty much like 2017… except maybe the president will go to jail… if we’re lucky.

Thanks, for reading!
