Sonora restaurant has opened at 89 Patton Ave. in downtown Asheville. Sonora serves what they describe as Northern Mexican comfort food. Yes, they serve tacos.

Crucible bar appears to be open now at 140-A Roberts St. in the heart of Asheville’s River Arts District. Hand-made cocktails, hand-blown glass.

BarTaco is now hiring. That’s another new eatery that’s close to opening at 121 Biltmore Ave. near the Orange Peel in downtown. Yes, they serve tacos.

12 Baskets Cafe is now open on Haywood Road in West Asheville. The restaurant is located behind and below Firestorm Cafe. The restaurant has a mission to serve the poor, and thus they serve donated food.

Gannett, the owner of the Asheville Citizen-Times newspaper, has announced that it will cut 2 percent of its workforce. Notifications go out on Tuesday to those affected. Print advertising revenue at newspapers continues its steady decline, and Gannett’s stock market share price is down 35 percent this year. Will anyone in Asheville be affected? It’s hard to tell. Politico reports that about 350 people will be laid off.

National Geographic’s travel section recently profiled Asheville’s eclectic music scene.

Mountain Moral Monday in downtown Asheville drew hundreds for a get-out-the-vote rally on Monday, WLOS reports.

Billy Goats Bikes is moving from Regent Park Boulevard in Asheville to 1446 Brevard Road, close to the popular mountain biking destination of Bent Creek Forest.

A new show featuring Wedge artists will open Dec. 9 at the River Arts District studios location. The theme of the show is “Miniature,” with artists creating small works of art as a sneak peek into their creative process. The show will be located on the second floor foyer, but we will be greeting our guests in each of our studios to give visitors the opportunity to see us in our creative spaces.

The city of Asheville is taking bids for construction of the Beaucatcher Greenway trail.
