Wow… Thats actually kind of a handsome looking building. At least a step up from all the terrible crap they’re putting up all around town.
I am glad to see they plan on replacing the parking deck with something more than just another parking deck. The design looks a little odd. I was hoping for basically a complete remake of the Langren Hotel, wrapping a parking deck.
Regarding the BB&T building, I too would rather see it remain basically as-is. Sure it’s not perfect but at least it’s honest. Power wash it, replace the glass, and gut the interior, but in my opinion it’s a dignified building and the new look is probably not likely to follow suit in that regard.
In the recent past, they also mentioned redevelopment of the western half of the BB&T block (where the bank drive thru, trash dumpsters, and a small parking lot are today) plus the parking lot across the street next to Green Sage. I wonder what the plan and timeframe is for those spots.
