PHOTOS: Asheville Wing War at the Asheville Music Hall

Here’s a look at the annual Asheville Wing War, which was held on Sunday afternoon at the Asheville Music Hall. It featured piled of specialty wings done up by a selection of Asheville’s independent restaurants. You could have your wings flavored with Cheerwine, apple butter, stout beer, jerk-style, buffalo-style and much, much more. The event benefitted MANNA Food Bank. A group of judges, in a blind taste test, picked the winners. Here’s a list of the judges, the competitors, and the winners, courtesy of Ashvegas contributor Stu Helm, one of the judges known as Asheville’s Facebook Food Critic.

Duane Fernandes – The head chef at Isa’s Bistro

Cammy Kennedy – Who won a contest on line to be a judge

Becky Upham – A representative from MANNA FoodBank

Judges’ choice:
Barleycorn best traditional

    Is Moe’s Original a local independent? Everybody else seems to be a one off-there are like 30 Moe’s.

      I think there are two different “Moe’s” in town. There’s Moe’s BBQ down in Biltmore Village, and then the Moe’s burrito joint that is everywhere.
