The Asheville Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will start at 5 p.m. on Jan. 2. It will be held in the first floor conference room of City Hall.
New Belgium Brewing’s plans to build a brewery on Craven Street will be one topic of discussion for the commission. It will review the site plan for the project. From the notice:
The project proposes to develop a brewery and distribution . The 216,237 square foot facility will also include administrative offices, visitor’s center, and outdoor recreational spaces and the request includes modifications to driveway width, building height and landscaping.
There’s a separate-but-related item on the agenda:
Major subdivision review for the project identified as Crave Street parking and infrastructure improvements, located off of Craven Street, Emma Road and Hazel Mill Road. The infrastructure project proposes to widen and improve approximately 2,400 linear feet of the existing Craven Street roadway from Emma Road to Haywood Road along with associated intersection, storm water, sidewalk and on-street parking improvements. Project also includes the installation of a new low-impact development public parking lot, public greenway and stream restoration on adjacent properties.
One other potentially controversial item is also on the agenda for this meeting. That item pertains to the Harris Teeter development on Merrimon Avenue. The discussion will be around a rezoning request to “facilitate additional outparcel development.” There’s been talk that Chick-fil-A wants to open a drive-thru restaurant on the property.
