LaZoom Tours has added a retro twist to its haunted comedy tour, which runs Saturday through Oct. 31. The tour will feature cameo appearances by classic movie monsters such as Wolfman and Frankenstein, and it will end with a Classic Monster Ball at the LaZoom’s bar, called the LaZoom Room, on Halloween night. Here are the details from a press release:

LaZoom’s year round Haunted Comedy tour gets a retro Halloween makeover for the month of October. The revamped tour will feature classic movie monsters and end with a Classic Monster Ball at the LaZoom Room on Halloween night.

LaZoom’s award winning haunted comedy tour has been a downtown attraction since 2010. The one hour adult’s only comedy tour is hosted by a funny-scary tour guide (Ghoulish Gary, Dr. Vladimir Cutupandropoff XIV, and brand new this year – Bones Boudreaux). The tour showcases Asheville’s seedy underbelly and bloody past. Along the way, riders hear stories of Asheville’s murders, hangings, and unsolved mysteries. They usually encounter local legends such as The Grove Park’s Pink Lady and are haunted by the “ghost” of James Taylor. (Yes, we know he’s still among the living.)

Beginning September 30th, the typical cameos will be replaced with the monsters made famous by Universal Studios in the 1930s and 1940s. The tour will follow the usual route downtown, but riders will be treated to Frankenstein’s Monster, Wolfman, and other classic horror creature as they try to plan a Monster’s Ball in Asheville.

Riders are encouraged to dress up as their favorite movie monster for these limited edition tours and will be rewarded with a $10 gift card to be used for future LaZoom tours. If you need a costume, head to Halloween Express at the Asheville Mall, mention your costume is for the LaZoom Tour, and they’ll give you 10 percent off your purchase.

“We’re so excited to bring some of these classic monsters back to life on the streets of Asheville. Our Haunted tours around Halloween are a big attraction for both locals and tourists. We can’t wait to look out into the audience and see some of the classic monsters staring back at us, whoa. It’s going to be great!” – Jen Lauzon owner, operator, and founder

“While our haunted tour runs all year long, for some reason it has an extra charm throughout October. We’re excited to present our Monster Ball tour this year!” -Jim Lauzon owner, operator, and founder

After the final tour on Halloween, The LaZoom Room will be transformed into the Monster’s Ball. There will be a costume contest, drink specials, and a DJ Mad Sci spinning spooky grooves from the grave from 8pm to Midnight. Admission is $5.

Tickets: $23 adults, $22 locals, $22 seniors
Length: 60 Minutes
Departure: LaZoom Room: 76 Biltmore Avenue
$10 LaZoom Gift Card for riders that dress up as Classic Movie Monsters
