Is everybody ready for more Harry Potter mania?

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” drops July 16. Over at Malaprop’s, people are already planning a release party at 11 p.m. on July 15 – at midnight, the new book will be released. The store is taking prepaid holds, and they’re giving away a $5 gift card to buyers when they pick up their new tome.

I’ve been reading the Harry Potter books since they came out, mainly because of my interest in children’s writing. J.K. Rowling is a master at plot and creating her own universe, although I think the whole franchise suffers from over exposure. The movies really haven’t been that great.

But I’m sure I’ll get in line and snap up the new book, just as I have all the others. By the way, reading Harry Potter doesn’t make you a witch or a pagan or an evil person. It’s just plain fun, so get over it.
