The City of Hendersonville has approved plans for the replacement of Ingle’s Markets #77 at 625 Spartanburg Highway, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792-5762, in a meeting Thursday, 7 May 2015. (Agenda) The existing store opened July 16, 1980. The 72,000-square-foot replacement store will include a pharmacy drive through, Ingle’s Gas Express and Starbucks. No timetable is set for construction. Litigation is pending with the closure of two roads accessing the store.

Ingle’s Markets is proceeding with the opening of at least one new store and the completion of an undisclosed number of store remodels for the remainder of its fiscal year. The new store is Ingle’s Markets #134, Sand Hill Road, Candler, North Carolina.

Ingle’s Markets #2, 7 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2725:
Present departments include bakery, delicatessen, and floral.

Ingle’s Markets #2 should be the oldest store in the chain in operation. I think it has undergone two expansions, the last being in 1993 or 1994.

I doubt the store could be improved any further for the inclusion of pharmacy, gas express and Starbucks Coffee.

Robert Pierce “Bob” Ingle, founder of Ingle’s Markets, is interred in the adjacent Green Hills Cemetery.

Ingle’s Markets #22, 499 Weaverville Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28804-1130:
Present departments include bakery, delicatessen, floral, gas express (I-Market #722), and video.

Ingle’s Markets #22 is similar to stores built in 1993 and 1994. Several of these stores, including #24 (863 Brevard Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2205) have added pharmacies, likely replacing video departments, with more stores to follow through remodels.

I wonder if Ingle’s Markets #22 will be up for a remodel soon with the inclusion of a pharmacy.

Ingle’s Markets #8 (550 North Carolina Highway 9, Black Mountain, North Carolina 28711-3829):
Present departments include bakery, delicatessen, floral, gas express (I-Market #708), Starbucks Coffee, and video.

The store is adding a pharmacy, which will replace the video department. The pharmacy drive through was built at the time of construction. Rite Aid #11555 will either relocate or close when its lease expires, and store #8’s pharmacy opens.

Ingle’s Markets #134 should open in late summer if construction is on par or ahead on schedule.

Ingle’s Markets owns another site on Brevard Road, located at South Bear Creek Road between Interstates 26 and 240 and Interstate 40. WLOS-TV mentioned it Monday on a newscast. (http://www.wlos.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/ask-13-ingle-house-21219.shtml#.VWW-3tJViko) It was acquired by the Ingle family in 1969.

Ingle’s Markets #5, 669 Haywood Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-3257, would be the nearest store. The current store replaced the original store at 1070 Haywood Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28806-2640.

What about the west Asheville location on Haywood road. It’s terrible.

As the site on Brevard Road at South Bear Creek Road is zoned for commercial use, I wonder if the possibility exists for Ingle’s Markets #5 to relocate to a much larger store. The drawback is losing foot traffic on Haywood Road at its current location.

Any idea when this is going to happen? I assume it is on the site next to Lowe’s. There’s been a little work on the site, but not much else.

Ingle’s Markets is moving ahead with a replacement store in Tennessee.

Ingle’s Markets #70, located at 2845 East Andrew Johnson Highway, Greeneville, Tennessee 37745-0957, closed Sunday. The existing store will be demolished for a new store that will feature a pharmacy drive through, Ingle’s Gas Express and Starbucks. The process is expected to take a year to complete.

Ingle’s Markets #21, located at Greeneville West Shopping Center, 615 Asheville Highway, Greeneville, Tennessee 37743-5401, is the other store in Greeneville that remains open. I am unaware of any improvement plans for this location.

The Fairview Ingles needs some serious improvements. It’s shocking how old and run down the store is .

Ingle’s Markets owns the site store #111 and CVS #7007 operate. I wonder if a new store could be built onsite.

I am unaware of plans for CVS #7007 to relocate to a freestanding location.

There is a possibility that they will relocate by 2017 to a new development that is planning to be built at the front entrance to SouthCliff. Plans include a 49,000 square foot grocery store (likely a publix). Once they move, then ingles will get the proper plans and permits to tear down Ingles #111 and rebuild it.

I think you just hit a home run with Publix looking at a store in Fairview. If the 49,000 square feet supermarket has a pharmacy drive through on the left side facing the store, it is very well a Publix.

I would not be surprised if CVS #7007 relocates. Ingle’s Markets could be rebuilding and improving stores in areas where competitors like Publix intend to move in.

No they don’t! They signed a 99 year lease back in 1985 Tiger. Bud Sales owns the property.

Ingle’s Markets, Incorporated is listed as the owner of parcel #9667730382L0001 (225 Charlotte Highway, Asheville, North Carolina 28803-8628) in the Buncombe County deedbook 1416, deedpage 440.

#111 is the store you’re talking about and it will always be the way it is. Ingles doesn’t own the property and will never sink money into improvements.

ACTUALLY according to Buncombe County GIS: Ingles Markets DOES own that property in Fairview.
