French_Broad_Chocolate_Lounge_2014Dan and Jael Rattigan, owners of the uber popular (and delicious) French Broad Chocolate Lounge, are considering moving across town. Right now, they’re located on 10 S. Lexington Ave., where they’ve been since they opened in 2008. The couple opened their French Broad Chocolate Factory at 21 Buxton Ave. in 2012.

Now the couple is looking at a location on Pack Square, in the heart of downtown Asheville. They’re still getting their financing together, so there’s no done deal yet, Dan Rattigan said on Wednesday afternoon. Rattigan said the potential deal is consuming his every waking hour, and that he’s dying to shout the news from rooftops, but he can’t until the deal is official.

The Rattigans have been getting a ton of  praise since opening their bean-to-bar chocolate location.

I’m thinking the old Hannah Flannigan’s should be about disinfected enough for human occupation by now. It would be a great location, has a huge outdoor space and it having a prior existing liquor license for the space would expedite that aspect of the move.

I’m fat and lazy and don’t like walking. It sure was nice to park at Mast General and get my chocolate on. Guess I’m going to have to get that handicap hanger for the truck now.

I really like the location now, the way it’s sort of tucked away from all the hubbub of Pack Square. It seems like it would make more sense just to refigure their current location so there are two or more cashiers and not such a long line.

The old SunTrust location would be great. Would give them better visibility and a better space.

No. That’s currently being used as a tax deduction.

I’m not sure how moving from 10 S Lex, around the corner from Pack Sq. – to Pack Square, = “moving across town” ? Do you mean a different square, or do you mean Buxton St. is moving?
In any event, their set up on Lex is ridiculous, and the change hopefully will have a better system.
