Parking is so cheap and plentiful in Asheville compared to other cities. I assume that builders from out of town will start charging the average going rate and selling spaces by themselves for 30k a piece to homeowners etc. I’m afraid Asheville has outlived its cheap parking when you consider the demand for visiting here. E
I agree with Haunted: Too bad it’s not larger.
Tribute’s Residences at South Slope has to be the same thing as Ledford Site. First of all the site is about the right size for 142 units, it’s 4 stories (plus a 5th story “basement”), but furthermore 185 Coxe Ave is owned by South Slope Holdings LLC with an address of 10 Cardinal Drive Wilmington NC, which happens to be the address of Tribute Companies.
As for the 48-unit, 63-space building. That must be the 150 Coxe Ave project that you posted about before, that’s actually 4 stories of apartments on top of 4 stories of parking.
Both of these buildings go above and beyond the letter of the law, and even above what would conceivably be necessary for just the residents, in terms of parking spaces (300 spaces for 142 units where some are 1-bedroom is pretty big) so they must be banking on parking revenue from people visiting the South Slope.
Thanks orulz.
Also did you notice that little hair place at the end of coxe has been emptied out and close. Do you think that piece of land is next to go?
Just guessing here…that place was more likely a casualty of the coming redevelopment of Lee Walker Heights.
Jason, you missed some important info. They are 400 to 900 sq ft. They are rentals. No price is available (at least they wont release it). Coxe will have no turning left lane for the 300 parking. There are 3 apartment blocks going up with the same developer. The 3rd one is opposite twin leaf. No parking on that one. The lofts will now loose their parking. Same developer owns empty lot on the other side of twin leaf and empty lot at corner of collier and buxton. So guess they will be next.
Thanks for your note, Helen.
Not tall enough, and not enough units, but otherwise I’ll take it. Unfortunately it will probably also be built in the very trendy “Charlotte boring” style of architecture that’s begun to infest the city, but we need housing downtown. We need a lot of it, and we need it fast, before the hotel developers get every last parcel of available land between I-40 and I-240.
