The Carolina Brotherhood bicycle ride to honor fallen firefighters and policemen is expected to arrive in the Charlotte area on Wednesday.

The nearly 400-mile trip kicked off two days ago in Wilmington and will end in Asheville on Friday.

This year’s ride is dedicated to Asheville Fire Capt. Jeffery Bowen, who died last year while searching for victims in a fire at a medical office building. Proceeds from the event will go to Bowen’s family.
