Ok, all you creative folks – have at it:

No ongoing event in Minor League Baseball has a longer successful track record than Thirsty Thursday, which started at Asheville’s McCormick Field in 1980. Considering the long history of the promotion at baseball games as well as the fact that the event has been imitated but never duplicated at other ballparks throughout the country, the Tourists are calling on the creative minds of Western North Carolina to help create a slogan or logo for a new Thirsty Thursday T-shirt.

The Tourists are now accepting entries for the Thirsty Thursday T-shirt contest. Entries can be either a slogan or a graphic design. The winning entry will be creative, in good taste and able to work well on the design of a T-shirt that will be sold at McCormick Field.

The winning entrant will receive two general admission tickets to the remaining Thirsty Thursday games for the 2008 season as well as the thrill of knowing he or she contributed to the longest running successful promotion in the minor leagues.

“Thirsty Thursday is an Asheville institution and we’re looking for someone who can express that unique experience in a T-shirt design,” said Jodee Ciszewski, the Tourists marketing and merchandise manager. “We always welcome the input of our fans to make coming to the ballpark more enjoyable, and this is a way we can reward someone with a great idea.”

For more information regarding the Thirsty Thursday T-shirt contest or any other event at McCormick Field, contact the Tourists’ front office at (828) 258-0428.

I put a few ideas on my Tourists blog, but I dont think they’ll be adopted anytime soon.
