There’s an amazing new acting school opening up next month in Asheville’s River Arts District, which continues to explode with activity.
The New York Studio for Stage and Screen in Asheville on Riverside Drive will offer expert training in all expects of acting. There’s a professional stage space that’s been newly remodeled. And there’s a cast of agents, producers and directors who will work with actors to help them master their craft.
I’ll be tracking down and interviewing these folks. Looks like a fascinating endeavor. Grand opening week is June 9.
More from the New York Studio for Stage and Screen in Asheville website:
Our new 2300 sq. ft. studio at 2002 Riverside Drive has been a long and wonderful work in progress. We have put an incredible amount of time, thought and love into this space. Our goal has been to create a studio that is unique, versatile, warm, energetic, and creatively inviting. We want the space to invite dialogue, creative exploration, and a community. When we first arrived in the space it was a large white and yellow box. Since that day we have put in a new floor, fauxed 2 walls and the ceiling, mounted large sails for sound dampening, built a loft, mounted a spiral staircase, painted every surface, pipe and beam visible, added track lighting and wall sconces, built a professional sound booth, added a surround sound speaker system and in the near future mounting a projector and screen.
With Agents, Producers and Directors watching your work, the opportunities at NYS3 don’t just stop at mastering your craft. Collectively our instructors have over 300 hours of professional experience both in the industry and guiding students in LA and NYC. We offer over 30 different classes and workshops, NYS3 will help you firmly solidify your skills, raise your confidence and teach you to seamlessly weave between the camera and the stage.
If a school is only as good as its instructors then this is one of the best. As one student put it: “Who would have though I would have received the best actor training in the mountains of NC?” NYS3 operates with the highest level of integrity in its pursuit to have its students successfully master the Craft. Backed by so much experience, the instructors at NYS3 know what it is like at every level of the industry and they know what works.
