With a toast, New Belgium Brewing digs into new Asheville site

Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony on property along the French Broad River marked a milestone in both place and time for the brewer and the city’s craft beer industry. About 3 p.m., the crowd lifted glasses of RyePA, a beer that New Belgium made with in conjuntcion with ingredients from Asheville’s Riverbend Malt House, and drank to their new brewery. After two years of ups and downs, and not one spade of dirt turned, the commitment was clear: New Belgium is coming to Asheville.
