Two bodies recovered from French Broad River in Asheville

UPDATED noon on Nov. 6: A second body was recovered from the French Broad River.

UPDATED 6:15 p.m. Nov. 5: Via Asheville Citizen-Times photojournalist Maddy Jones on Twitter, Asheville Police Chief Tammy Hooper confirms the body found today is Alexandra King.

From the APD on Facebook:

Today at approximately 3:30 p.m. members of the Asheville Fire Department and the Henderson County Rescue Squad located the body of a woman in the French Broad River. We believe that it is Alexandra King. Any additional information regarding this event will be pending the Medical Examiner’s report. In the meantime, we will be continuing the search for Tatianna Diz. The Asheville Police Department would like to extend our sincere condolences to the King family and ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time.

UPDATED 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5: Multiple reports on Twitter including one from the Asheville Police Department that a body was recovered from the river today around 3:30 p.m. Identity not known.

Breaking news, 4 p.m. Nov. 5. From Jason Sandford on Twitter, on location near the French Broad River: “Asheville police have made a discovery in their search for two missing women.”

Tatianna Diz and Alexandra King have been missing since the night of a fatal shooting. They were last seen on the night of October 27.

Police have been searching all day with rafts, divers, and dogs along the French Broad River at Craven Street, near New Belgium. This afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. they made a significant discovery beneath a train restle just north of the Craven Street bridge.

Police have closed off Emma Road. More as this develops.

    WLOS is reporting that a body was recovered from the river a few minutes ago…
