Bomba, a new downtown Asheville bar, to open next week

Mackensy Lunsford at Asheville Scene has the latest on Hector Diaz and his new bar/eatery, Bomba:

Hector Diaz will open his latest venture, a bar and light-bites eatery called Bomba, as early as next Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The Puerto Rico native said the name comes from bomba, a style of Puerto Rican music. Bomba will operate next to his flagship restaurant Salsa’s (named after a dip, but nodding to the dance) next door, Diaz said. “We’re going to create a dancing corner.”

Diaz, also the owner of Modesto and Chorizo, said Bomba’s hours will be different from those of Salsa’s, with some light breakfast fare available as early as 7 a.m. A barista will turn out strong espresso drinks like Cuban coffee, available as late as midnight on weekends.
