AvL Technologies, which makes mobile satellite equipment, recently celebrated the completion of a new manufacturing facility adjacent to its Woodfin headquarters and is ready to lease out space.

The 57,000-square-foot building, which is designed to look like a technology park and has space for other tenants, is located at Reynolds Village. The company, which started in 1994, now employs more than 180 people. Venture Asheville calls AvL Technologies “Asheville’s greatest technology success story to-date.”

SVN | BlackStream, a commercial real estate brokerage firm, is leasing space the space. The facility has a mix of research and development lab, testing and light manufacturing, and contemporary office space, and many special amenities, including EV car charging, LED lighting and drive-in access, SVN says in a press release. Here’s more:

The Park was built by AvL Technologies to help attract more professional jobs and especially, high-tech businesses to North Asheville. The Economic Development Coalition of AshevilleBuncombe County along with Buncombe County Commissioners, and the Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority helped facilitate low interest bond financing for the project.

“The doors are open at AvL Technology Park and we invite technology manufacturing companies that are interested in calling Asheville, North Carolina home,” said Bryan Kerns, Director of AvL Technology Park. “This is a beautiful and highly functional facility located at the base of Reynolds Mountain in North Asheville, alongside a growing retail shopping and dining area, and a community YMCA. It is an exceptional place to live and work.”

“We are very proud to be given this challenge, and we will employ our national resources to bring the most beneficial companies to the Park,” said Michael Hoffman, Exec. Dir. of SVN BlackStream – Asheville. “We see this as Asheville’s RTP, and an incredible opportunity to foster new growth and elevate career opportunities for the area.”

AvL Technology Park was completed the end of 2016, and has construction materials and design features that make it unique to WNC. “The only comparable properties on the east coast tended to be in Research Triangle Park and the surrounding area,” said Bill Steigerwald, SVN Advisor.
