Here’s more of what’s going around, including news that there are two new poke restaurants planned for downtown Asheville. Here we go:

-There’s a sign up at 28 Battery Park Ave. announcing that the Aloha Cafe, a new poke restaurant, is planned for that location. (The location was formerly home to Asheville Direct, which sold Asheville-made goods.) A couple of weeks ago, Yum Sushi Burrito & Poke announced that it planned to open a second location over on Asheland Avenue. Yum recently just opened its first eatery off Long Shoals Road in south Asheville.

-Asheville is getting a CBD coffee bar. Mary Jane’s CBD & Vape Shop has announced that it is open at 582 Hendersonville Road in south Asheville.

-Paradox, the new nightclub in the former New Mountain AVL space on North French Broad Ave., is open. The club hosted a mixed martial arts fight, with an octagon and all, on Saturday night.

-A former used car dealership at 200 Leicester Highway in Asheville is going to be remodeled into a new business called The Lounge, according to construction permits.

-Asheville city officials have launched a new public safety program in which two teams of two Asheville firefighters on bikes are patrolling downtown streets, responding to various needs. The program comes after increased complaints about transients in downtown

-Asheville tourism officials are narrowing the list of advertising agencies that will oversee Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority advertising. The annual contract is worth just under $1 million a year. A decision is expected in early November.

-G/M Property Group is now leasing spaces in the former Asheville Citizen-Times building at 14 O’Henry downtown in downtown Asheville. The building is under new ownership, and is under renovation. Here’s more background on the sale of the Citizen-Times building earlier this year.

Because of course, realtors are taking over the space that used to be for journalists.

    Welcome to Asheville.

Answering my own question… New sign went up. It’s 63 Taphouse now. https://www.facebook.com/The-63-Taphouse-1940866742674454/?ref=br_rs
