Here’s more of what’s going on, including….

-Trader Joe’s in Asheville plans to expand the sales area of its Merrimon Avenue store by removing and relocating the existing beverage cooler, according to construction permits. The footprint of the building won’t change.

The Selector’s Cup is a first-year event to be held Oct. 26-27 at One World West on Haywood Road in West Asheville. The event, sponsored by Blue Ridge Hemp, will feature networking with licensed industrial hemp farmers from around the country. The event will also include a competition among growers, who will have their hemp flower judged by a panel. The event includes yoga, panels, music, vendors, a CBD elixir bar, flower bar, dab bar, CBD massage and more.

-Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry plans to renovate the interior of its 5,674-square-foot building at 1373 Tunnel Road to include new windows, bigger restrooms, new energy efficient lighting, a new HVAC system.

-Guacamoles & Beer is the name of a new restaurant coming to the small shopping center at 90 South Tunnel Road.

-The new two-story office building for Vannoy construction at 551 Brevard Road is coming together.

-The new Save Me The Waltz Bar in the basement of the S&W Building on Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville is planning to open this month. Follow them on Instagram at @smtwb for updates.

-Burial Beer recently sought construction permits to install a new sign at the entrance of its Forestry Camp location on Shady Oak Road off London Road near Biltmore Village in Asheville. The highly anticipated second location of Burial Beer should be opening soon.

-Speaking of Burial Beer, the brewery has begun selling tickets to its Burnpile beer and music festival. This is the fifth year of the festival, and Burial Beer plans to “invite a community of brewers, chefs, wine makers, artists, musicians and all of those who celebrate craft to come, embrace the change in the air and experience the last hurrah before we settle in for our winters nap.”

-A tropical smoothie cafe is coming to 1829 Hendersonville Road in south Asheville.

-Ziggy’s Bakery and Deli is coming to 1550 Hendersonville Road.

-The new Green Sage Cafe on Merrimon Avenue should be opening soon.

-Mountain Moral Sunday is planned for Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. in downtown Asheville.

-West End Bakery and Café in West Asheville will host Pizza FEAST on from 6-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 to raise money for the FEAST program and Bountiful Cities.

West End Bakery will roll out a variety of pizzas on their artisan pizza dough, according to a press release. They will also sample some of their new artisan sourdough breads. Vegetarian and Vegan options will be provided as well as West End signature salads and desserts. Here’s more:

Hi-wire Brewing and Birds Fly South Ale Project are donating beer and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available. Live music performed by the amazing and lively Afrocan Duo will feature the guitar and drum music of Agya Boakye-Boaten and Djer Zunguze.

Ticket price includes food, beverages, and entertainment. Tickets are $25 per person and kids 12 and under can attend for free. Tickets are available in advance by going to the Bountiful Cities website BountifulCities.Org Advance ticket purchase recommended, but tickets may be available at the door if the event has not sold out.

All proceeds from the event support FEAST programming. FEAST, a program of Bountiful Cities, works within local schools to empower youth and families to grow, prepare, and enjoy fruits and vegetables through hands on cooking and garden education. FEAST gives students life-long skills to enable food access and food security.
