More of what’s going around:

Word on the street: New life coming to old Burgerland restaurant on Smoky Park Highway in Candler.

-There’s new activity at the former Hannah Flannagan’s pub on Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville. I had heard awhile back that another Irish pub was going in, but I don’t have any details or updates. Anyone know what’s up?

The Fine Arts Theatre will show Purple Rain in honor of the passing of Prince at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Two shows of the movie at Asheville Pizza & Brewing earlier this week sold out in a flash.

-Will Morris and Wells Fargo, LLC are presenting a Rent Party fundraiser on May 5 that benefits Pisgah Legal Services, according to a press release. Here’s more info:

The party begins at 5:30 pm at the YMI Cultural Center in downtown Asheville. Tickets are $20/person and include southern food by Green Opportunities, wine, and craft beer by Hi-Wire Brewing. Guests will dance the night away with live blues music by The Chuck Beattie Band. Tickets may be purchased online at www.pisgahlegal.org or by calling Betsy Ellis at (828) 828-210-3444.

The Rent Party supports Pisgah Legal Services work to help thousands of low-income families in WNC keep decent, safe and affordable housing. Last year, more than 4,000 people from across the mountains came to the nonprofit law-firm for help securing housing and avoiding homelessness.

Each year, Pisgah Legal Services helps more than 15,000 low-income people meet their basic needs, such as protection from domestic violence, avoiding homelessness, finding safe housing, and accessing health care and subsistence income. Pisgah Legal Services has 18 attorneys on staff, and relies heavily on the pro bono legal services of 300+ volunteer attorneys and the help of more than 50 office volunteers. PLS’ main service area includes six counties in WNC, with offices in Asheville, Brevard, Hendersonville, and Rutherfordton. For more information, call Pisgah Legal Services at 828-253-0406 or toll free at 800-489-6144 or go to www.pisgahlegal.org.

-Asheville dance instruct Lisa Zahiya has a new show. Here are the details: Lisa Zahiya & Zoe Jakes present House of Tarot :: A Theatrical Dance Production at 7:30 p.m. on May 5 at Diana Wortham Theatre. Tickets are $25. More:

House of Tarot is the brainchild of Zoe Jakes of Beats Antique who is the choreographer, dancer, music composer, costume/set designer, and inspiration for this project.

Three years ago, while poring over a favorite deck of Tarot cards, Zoe Jakes was inspired to create a work of art as powerful as the cards themselves. Finally, after years of creative process, House of Tarot has been created, placing the captivating energy of the Tarot deck onto members of the belly dance community. House of Tarot is true performance art, a mutable dance theater performance imbued with ritual and the mysteries of Fate. The archetypes of the Tarot come to life in dynamic choreographies, stunning set design, various theatrical props, and an original score of music by Zoe Jakes. Throughout the show, the haunting healing of the High Priestess, the seductive glamour of the Snake, the chilling chords of Death, live drumming, and more, fill the stage in a story of human fate and archetypes.
