Shadows_on_the_WallThe Asheville Scene reports on a movie shoot for Shadows on the Wall:

Don’t be surprised if you see a film crew at work on a sidewalk or in a local coffee shop. A crew from The Obsidian Collective is shooting a science fiction film titled “Shadows on the Wall.”

Ben Carland, the writer/director of the movie, grew up in Western North Carolina. In a news release, Carland said he wanted to make the movie here to encourage future project developers to come to the mountains. The region “is one that is incredibly encouraging and interested in being involved in this type of media — we have experienced a multitude of offers to help, in any way possible, by individuals, companies and municipalities alike,” Carland said.

In a scene shot recently in the library at Christ School, actors Nicole Durant and Chris Kauffmann went through several takes. Durant is a Buncombe County native and graduate of Reynolds High School who moved to Los Angeles about two years ago to pursue her acting career.

“Shadows on the Wall” follows Palmer Marshall, a college student, “as he builds a device capable of reaching beyond our planet in unimaginable ways,” according to the news release. The Obsidian Collective is a creative media firm based inWNC.
