asheville_mini_sxswThis sounds cool. Press release info here from loyal reader Kate, who is bringing the show to town. Buy tickets here http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/581236:

My name is Kate and I’m writing because I’m hoping to get some coverage in Ashvegas for an upcoming show that I am bringing from Brooklyn to Asheville.

I’m actually from the lovely city of AVL, but currently reside in Brooklyn NY and am bringing a group of musicians to SxSW in Austin this year – and we’ll be touring along the way, and stopping at the Emerald Lounge for our first night along the way.

The 4 bands that I’ll have in tow will be joining 4 additional bands from all over the world – and we’ll be playing an “Asheville meets Austin” SxSW mini fest at the Emerald Lounge on Sunday March 2 from 5 p.m. to midnight.

More:

My company – BKLYN1834 – is orchestrating the tour, and bringing the group down.  We’ll have a 15 passenger van full of bands and industry professionals and creatives (videographers, photographers, marketers, visual artists, musicians, singers, etc), and we essentially plan to bring our Brooklyn spirit to Austin.

Here are the bands playing, with photos attached as well:

All of the musicians are a part of a collective here in NYC called the Clubhouse, which is an artist community, and also a big victorian house in Brooklyn that many of the bands live/work in.
Once we arrive in Austin, we’ll be setting up shop for 10 days and converting a house on S. Congress into a fully interactive workshop which we’ll call The BKLYN House.  The house will feature performances, meet ups, songwriting and recording sessions, video shoots, screenprinting, 3d printing and more.
